Institute for the control and certification of the University of Maribor (UM IKC) is an independent and non-profit organization. Our activity is directed to the benefit of anyone who is associated with agricultural produces and products which are marked with special labels (organic, integrated,) with an intention to strengthen confidence in these crops and products.

Our services are designed to:

• agricultural producers
• processing turns
• merchants and importers
• national authorities
• consumers of agricultural yields and products

The principal activity of the IKC UM is independent verification (control) and validation (certification) conformity procedures of production, processing, storage and labeling of agricultural produces and products in an efficient and accessible manner.
Our wish is strengthen and expansion of sustainable manners of agricultural production and processing, which at best contribute to balance in environment and in human nutrition.

1. Certification

Certification is professional process by which a certification authority (IKC UM) provide a written assurance (certificate), that the production and/or processing procedure methodically assessed in a manner, which provides confidence in the certified agricultural produces and foodstuffs and confirms the consistency of agricultural products and foodstuffs with regulations and standards by which they are certified.
